Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

SB 611 -- COUNTY FAIR BOARDS

CO-SPONSORS: Clemens, Cauthorn, Klindt, Foster (Luetkemeyer)

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Financial Services by a vote of 16 to 0.

This bill allows all statutorily created "Agricultural and
Mechanical Society" corporations (which organize county fairs) to
borrow money.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that these county fair boards need to
be able to borrow money in preparing for the fair; and because
the entities are created by statute, the authority to borrow
money has to be included in the statute.

Testifying for the bill was Senator Clemens.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
